From World Nursery Rhyme Week and Diwali to Remembrance Day, FrogID Week, Australian Pollinator Week and World Children's Day, there are lots of ideas to bring into your program.
You don't need to recognise every event! Choose the dates that connect with your children, families, community and service philosophy.

• Celebrate culture, identity and belonging through Diwali, All Saints' Day and opportunities for social inclusion. Invite families to share traditions, celebrations, languages and experiences that are meaningful to them.

• Bring nursery rhymes into everyday play during World Nursery Rhyme Week. Explore favourite rhymes through puppets, music, movement, storytelling and repetition. Follow children's interests and encourage their own versions of familiar songs.

• Get outdoors and investigate nature with Outdoor Classroom Day, FrogID Week and Australian Pollinator Week. Listen for frog calls, look for bees and butterflies, explore habitats and discover what is happening in your outdoor environment.

• Explore sustainability and caring for our environment through National Recycling Week and World Fisheries Day. Investigate recyclable materials, reuse everyday items and talk about ways we can care for our waterways and local environment.

• Discover food, farming and where things come from with National Agriculture Day, Australian Food Safety Week and National Fairy Bread Day. Grow vegetables, investigate farm animals, prepare simple recipes and explore family food traditions.

• Build kindness, friendships and inclusion through World Kindness Day, International Day for Tolerance and World Children's Day. Explore what kindness looks like, listen to children's perspectives and encourage everyone to contribute to decisions about their play and environment.

The calendar is a starting point, not a checklist. Follow children's interests, build on their questions and invite families to contribute their own ideas. Select experiences that are relevant to your group and document the learning that develops.
