💜 April – culture, creativity, wellbeing and family connection
April brings a thoughtful mix of cultural celebrations, wellbeing themes, creativity and community reflection for early learning services. With Easter, Autism Understanding Month, Earth Day, ANZAC Day and a range of multicultural celebrations across the month, April offers many meaningful opportunities to support belonging, respect, inclusion and connection.
 
This month’s calendar includes a gentle balance of Australian and international events — from Passover, Vaisakhi, Vishu and Poila Boishakh / Bohag Bihu to World Health Day, Nature Play Week, Earth Day and World Creativity and Innovation Day. You do not need to recognise every date. Instead, choose the events that best reflect your children, families, local community and service philosophy. This calendar helps make planning more intentional while also creating space for family voice and culturally responsive practice.
 
Available in A3 and A4 wall formats, plus an A4 list version, the calendar includes:
• Links to EYLF V2.0 Learning Outcomes
• Connections to the National Quality Standard
• Space for family ideas and contributions
• Room to add local events and service-specific celebrations
It is a helpful resource for strengthening Quality Area 1 – Educational Program and Practice and Quality Area 6 – Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities, while making learning visible in everyday planning.

April offers a rich blend of inclusion, culture, creativity and care for community:
• Build understanding and acceptance during World Autism Understanding Month (1–30 Apr) and World Autism Awareness Day (2 Apr).
• Celebrate stories, literacy and imagination with International Children’s Book Day (2 Apr) and World Book and Copyright Day (23 Apr).
• Acknowledge cultural and faith-based celebrations including Passover (1–9 Apr), Hana Matsuri (8 Apr), Orthodox Good Friday (10 Apr), Orthodox Easter Sunday (12 Apr), Vaisakhi (14 Apr), Vishu (15 Apr) and Poila Boishakh / Bohag Bihu (15 Apr).
• Support health and wellbeing conversations through World Health Day (7 Apr) and World Immunisation Week (24–30 Apr).
• Encourage outdoor exploration and connection to place during Nature Play Week (11–22 Apr).
