💛 February – Kindness, culture and connection (with Lunar New Year celebrations!)
February is a vibrant month for early learning services, filled with opportunities to strengthen wellbeing, celebrate diversity, and build respectful connections with children and families. With routines settling in and the year gaining momentum, this is a wonderful time to focus on friendships, belonging, and meaningful cultural experiences.
This month features a beautiful mix of global and community celebrations — from World Hijab Day and International Mother Language Day to Random Acts of Kindness Day — and of course the highlight for many services: Lunar New Year 2026: Year of the Fire Horse (17 Feb).
You don’t need to recognise every date — simply choose the moments that best reflect your children, families and community context. This calendar is designed as a practical planning tool for educators, supporting intentional programming while inviting families to share traditions and perspectives in culturally safe ways.

Celebrate the importance of play with Global School Play Day (4 Feb) and promote joyful literacy through World Read Aloud Day (4 Feb).
Encourage safe digital citizenship with Safer Internet Day (10 Feb).
