💛 March – Nature, belonging and community action (with Harmony Week highlights!)
 
March is a powerful month for early learning services, filled with opportunities to connect with community, explore the natural world, and strengthen inclusive practice. As the term settles in, this is a great time to lean into outdoor learning, wellbeing routines, and meaningful conversations about belonging, respect and fairness.
 
This month includes a strong mix of Australian and global events — from Clean Up Australia Day and SeaWeek to Harmony Week, World Water Day and National Close the Gap Day. You don’t need to recognise every date — simply choose the moments that best reflect your children, families and community context. This calendar supports intentional programming while inviting families to share perspectives in culturally safe ways.
 
Available in A3 and A4 wall formats, plus an A4 list version, the calendar includes:
• Links to EYLF V2.0 Learning Outcomes
• Connections to the National Quality Standard
• Space for family ideas and contributions
• Room to add local events and service-specific celebrations
It’s a helpful resource for strengthening Quality Area 1 – Educational Program and Practice and Quality Area 6 – Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities, while making curriculum links visible in everyday planning.

• Explore ocean connections through SeaWeek Australia (28 Feb–8 Mar) and extend into water, wildlife and sustainability investigations.
• Celebrate hearing health and communication inclusion with Hearing Awareness Week (1–7 Mar) and World Hearing Day (3 Mar).
• Bring playful literacy into your program with Dr Seuss Day (2 Mar) and story-rich experiences all month long.
• Explore nature play and community wellbeing with Parks Week (2–9 Mar).
• Celebrate problem-solving for people and planet on World Engineering Day (4 Mar).
• Acknowledge cultural celebrations with Purim (3–4 Mar) and Holi (5 Mar) through family-led sharing (always optional).
