Document Chuseok Learning with Our Free Learning Story Pack!

Chuseok is a significant Korean harvest festival held from 24–26 September 2026. It is a time when many Korean families come together to share food, give thanks for the harvest, connect with family and honour loved ones.

This meaningful occasion provides an opportunity to explore gratitude, family, community, food, seasonal change and the ways cultural traditions help people feel connected and belong. Invite Korean children and families to share their own experiences or traditions, if they would like to.

few simple ideas to explore:

  • Harvest sorting and arranging: Offer natural materials such as leaves, seed pods, rice, wheat, fruit images and baskets for children to sort, count, arrange and discuss.
  • Moon-inspired creating: Chuseok is connected with the full moon. Invite children to create moon collages, paint night skies or explore light and shadow outdoors.
  • Gratitude conversations: Invite children to share something, someone or somewhere they feel thankful for. Record their words for a meaningful display or learning story.
  • Songpyeon playdough invitation: Use playdough to explore the half-moon shape of songpyeon, a traditional Korean rice cake often enjoyed during Chuseok.

This free learning story pack helps educators capture children’s voice, participation, questions and emerging understandings as they explore culture, identity, belonging, communication, family and community.

Supports inclusive practice by valuing children’s family backgrounds, cultural connections, voices, ideas and different ways of participating

Ideal for portfolios, program documentation, displays or learning story records
