Pick a card, try a movement and explore what feels right! Our free printable Movement Choice Cards offer simple, playful ways for educators to introduce movement and quieter choices to children under five.
Created for ADHD Awareness Month, held throughout October (1–31 October), this inclusive resource can be used with all children, with or without an ADHD diagnosis, throughout the year.
With large, clear words, black silhouettes and coloured borders, the cards include choices such as pushing the wall, stretching up high, walking like an animal, squeezing a cushion and choosing a quiet space.
What’s included:
- Movement and regulation choice cards, arranged four per A4 page.
- Simple visual prompts for young children.
- A one-page educator guide with printing, cutting, laminating and practical use instructions.
Older preschool children can choose from a small selection of cards. With younger children, educators can select a suitable action, demonstrate it and join in to make it fun.
Offer the cards during transitions, waiting times or group experiences, or when a child seeks movement or a quieter moment. Follow each child’s interests, abilities and responses, while continuing to provide plenty of freedom to move and play.
